Volcán Barú

Volcán BarúVolcán Barú is with 3474 meters the highest point of Panamá. On a clear day it is possible to see both the Pacific as well as the Atlantic Ocean. Best chance for that is right after sunrise and this is why a lot of people do the climb at night. If you rather do the climb at daytime, camping on the summit is also an option. The trail to the summit leads through different varieties of beautiful plant life and you might spot some wildlife like the famous Quetzal! Back to top

The “Sendero de los Quetzales” is one of the most beautiful trails in Central America and the most popular hike in Panamá. The trail links the town of Boquete with Cerro Punta by a 9.6 km long path crossing National Park Volcán Barú and can be done both ways. The difficulty of the hike depends on the chosen direction (uphill or downhill) and the amount of time you spend watching the nature and searching for the famous Quetzal! Back to top
